The Director of Engineering will lead all engineering functions supporting Local Bounti&rsquo;s advanced indoor growing facilities. This leader will own strategic direction, technical excellence, reliability, and continuous improvement across engineering disciplines&mdash;including mechanical, electrical, automation, and facility systems. The Director of Engineering ensures high performance across production sites, champions safety and sustainability, and drives innovation aligned with Local Bounti&rsquo;s mission. The pay range will be $175,000 to $200,000 depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership & Strategy

Develop and execute the engineering strategy to support Local Bounti&rsquo;s CEA operations, facilities expansion, and production optimization.
Lead crossfunctional engineering teams in designing, maintaining, and improving grow systems, climate control, nutrient delivery, automation, and supporting infrastructure.
Partner with Operations, R\&D, Horticulture, and Technology teams to scale Local Bounti&rsquo;s proprietary systems.
Establish engineering standards, best practices, and documentation for current and future facilities.

Project & Facilities Management

Oversee planning, design, and execution of capital projects, including new greenhouse builds, retrofits, and major system upgrades.
Manage vendor relationships, contractors, engineering consultants, and equipment suppliers.
Drive project budgets, timelines, and risk mitigation while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Technical Excellence & Innovation

Advance Local Bounti&rsquo;s engineering methods, leveraging data, automation, and sustainable technologies to enhance yield, quality, and energy efficiency.
Evaluate and implement new systems and technologies to improve production capacity and operational resilience.
Troubleshoot complex facility and equipment issues and lead rootcause analyses.

Team Development

Build, mentor, and lead a highperforming engineering organization across multiple sites.
Recruit and develop engineering talent aligned with Local Bounti&rsquo;s culture of innovation, accountability, and sustainability.

Safety & Compliance

Ensure all engineering activities comply with OSHA standards, foodsafe facility requirements, environmental regulations, and internal safety policies.
Champion a culture of safety and reliability across facilities.

Qualifications

Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Agricultural, or similar required); master&rsquo;s preferred.
10+ years of leadership experience in engineering, manufacturing, food production, indoor agriculture, or related heavy industrial environments.
Demonstrated success scaling systems, implementing automation, and managing complex facilities.
Experience leading capital projects and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, HVAC/climate control, fluid systems, building utilities, and industrial automation technologies.
Excellent communication, crossfunctional leadership, and problemsolving skills.

Job Summary: 
We are seeking a FSQA Supervisor to join our dynamic team at our California locations. The annual salary for this role will be withing the range of $80,000 to $90,000. In this role, you will be responsible for leading on-the-ground Food Safety and Quality Assurance operations across both Local Bounti California facilities. This role ensures all products meet company quality expectations and comply with federal, state, local, and customer food safety standards. The FSQA Supervisor will oversee daily FSQA activities, guide site teams, support regulatory and customer audits, and act as the primary on-stie liaison for all food safety and quality programs.

Duties/Responsibilities: 
Food Safety & Compliance
&middot;       Execute and maintain all site-level FSQA programs, including HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs, environmental monitoring, pest control, allergen management, and sanitation verification.
&middot;       Ensure compliance with FDA FSMA cGMP, Produce Safety Rule, state of California regulatory requirements and company policies.
&middot;       Conduct routine facility inspections, audits, and risk assessments to ensure proactive identification and quick resolution of food safety issues.
&middot;       Support and lead site-level preparation for third party, regulatory, and customer audits.
Quality Assurance
&middot;       Oversee daily quality checks, product evaluations and data capture to ensure all finished goods meet Local Bounti specifications.
&middot;       Review and analyze quality data, trends, and deviations; recommend corrective and preventive actions.
&middot;       Verify calibration and accuracy of quality testing equipment.
&middot;       Troubleshoot quality issues on the production floor and drive timely resolution.
Leadership & Team Support
&middot;       Provide daily guidance to site FSQA technicians and collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Maintenance, and Growing.
&middot;       Train employees on FSQA policies, procedures, and standards across both sites.
&middot;       Promote a strong food safety culture through coaching, accountability, and consistent communication.
Documentation & Reporting
&middot;       Maintain accurate and complete FSQA documentation, logs, records, and digital systems.
&middot;       Ensure timely completion and follow-up on non-conformances, CAPAs, and audit findings.
&middot;       Prepare and submit FSQA reports to the Regional FSQA Manager, highlighting key metrics, risks, and opportunities.
Cross-Site Support
&middot;       Split time between both Local Bounti California facilities based on operational needs.
&middot;       Standardize best practice across both sites to ensure consistent execution of FSQA programs.
&middot;       Provide on-site support for new product trails, equipment validations, or operational changes impacting food safety or quality.
Required Skills/Abilities: 

Two plus years of experience in a food safety or quality role.
Strong knowledge of FDA, FSMA, HAACP, GMPs, and food safety regulatory requirements.
HACCP certification and/or PCQI certification
Experience supporting third-party audits.
Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Ability to train, coach, and lead teams in a fast-paced production environment.
Strong problem solving, communication, and documentation skills.
Strong Microsoft Office skills.
Ability to work across multiple sites and adjust schedule based on business needs.

Preferred Skills:

Experience in fresh produce, CEA/greenhouse operations, or ready-to-eat food production.

Education and Experience:

We are seeking a Production Supervisor to join our dynamic team in Mount Pleasant, Texas. Day-to-Day Management of Operations in our Production area ensuring smooth operations of our Harvest and Packing area. Must monitor production for efficiency and that all safety practices are being followed and maintained.  


Perform necessary pre-operation activities to ensure proper equipment startup and operations on multiple pieces of equipment is done.
Communicate with team members and support teams to ensure continuous production of the product at high quality levels with minimal wasted time and materials.
Ability to train others on operations and functions of the equipment
Collect and enter data

Qualifications:

As a Forklift Operator at Local Bounti, you will ensure timely, safe, and efficient receiving, storing, or moving of material in the warehouse, loading dock, yard, or storage area while upholding our commitment to sustainability and food safety. Forklift Tasks:  Operates forklift, making runs throughout the facility to take product from packing areas to the cooler.  Stores and stacks materials, examines and reports deterioration and damage; rearranges and occasionally takes inventory of materials and product. 
FIFO Compliance:  Maintain FIFO compliance.  Monitor, report, and act on product(s) condition to reduce re-work and prevent losses.  
Load Security: Ensures that shipments are properly packaged, identified with all the required shipping information, and loaded into transportation vehicles.
Dry Goods Inventory:  Checks inventory of goods and materials as needed making sure that all departments have the required supplies.
Receiving:  Receives deliveries of goods and materials ensuring they are in good shape and documents using the Incoming Inspection Checklist form. 
Incident Reporting: Promptly notifies designated company personnel via cell phone whenever delivery delays, accidents, and vehicle malfunctions occur.
Documentation Accuracy: Completes all delivery documentation accurately.
Pallet Exchanges: Obtains exchange pallets for all pallets (other than blue CHEP pallets) that are delivered to customers; accurately records on the delivery documentation the number of pallets delivered to, and the number of exchange pallets received from, each customer.
Additional Duties: Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Other Duties: Any other duties as assigned.

Incoming goods receipt and inspection

Check procured items as they are received into the facility to ensure nothing is compromised or out of spec. This includes substrate/soil, chemicals, growing inputs, packaging, etc. and value-added projects like chicken (where temp checks are critical).


Pre-operation inspections

Document pre-operational inspection prior to the start of shifts.


Preventative Control/Critical Control Point

Conduct hourly PC and CCP checks.


Finished Product

Ensure the packaging, the product, and the labeling all line up appropriately.
Ensures that specifications are met on all fronts.
Documents these checks for FS and quality control records.
